Read More Here: "Scranton police Chief David Elliott should resign or be fired, police union president Bob Martin said today at a news conference.

Sgt. Martin's charge was joined by Les Neri, statewide president of the Fraternal Order of Police, who called Chief Elliott's conduct 'deplorable.'

Chief Elliott was suspended Thursday for a week without pay for disparaging remarks made last month toward two female officers.

Mayor Chris Doherty said he has no intentions of further disciplining Chief Elliott, who was also ordered to attend sensitivity training.

Speaking this afternoon at the Hilton Scranton and Conference Center, Sgt. Martin called the city's punishment unacceptable. He characterized the department rank and file as 'outraged' and said officers have lost faith in their chief."
